Blackberry Desktop for the Mac! Finally!
If you’re a Blackberry user and you own a Mac, this post is going to make you really happy. On Monday, Research in Motion finally announced that they’re bring their Blackberry Desktop Software to the Mac OS X. The news is huge, since the application was designed only for Windows and people who owned a Mac were quite stuck. It was something like owning an iPhone and not having iTunes installed on your computer!
RIM announced that the software will be ported to a Mac version and will be released in a couple of months, that’s this coming September for all the current Apple computers. According to the company, every user will be able to sync all their data with their Macs, including their iTunes playlists, tasks & schedules, calendars, notes and contacts. The application also allows the users to add or manage existing applications, updating their firmware when a new update is out and along with that, if you’re a multi-blackberry user, you can manage multiple smartphones with this app as well!
The Blackberry Mac software will also let you sync your Blackberry with the almighty of music players, iTunes. Hopefully, unlike the last update where iTunes blocked Palm’s Pre from syncing with iTunes, the Blackberry will still be able to use it. Though the application may make some Mac users happy, it won’t satisfy all of them. The RIM site declared that the Blackberry software will only be for Mac OS X versions 10.5.5 and up. Which means that the users with older Macs won’t be supported. A depressing move. You can sign up on the RIM’s site to be notified as soon as the software is launched in September. Till then, hold on to your Blackberries!
