HTC: New Hero Android Phone Announced
Wednesday, 24th June 2009, HTC, at a press event in London, UK, announced their brand new brain child, the Hero Android phone. This phone is one of their new advances in the user interfaces, mostly to compete with the iPhone’s latest 3GS. The new user interface has been codenamed HTC Sense. The HTC Hero will make it’s debut to the consumer market, starting this July in Europe and will eventually move towards Asia later this summer. At the end of this year, a unique version of HTC Hero, will ship for North America, which should be distinctive than the others, as per HTC’s claims. The cost of the phone has not yet been declared.
Similar to the earlier versions, like the T-Mobile G1 and the Google ION/HTC Magic, the HTC Hero has maintained it’s signature curve at the bottom of the body, but it’s quite taller and wider than it’s predecessors. 4.4 Inches tall, 2.2 inches wide and 0.5 inch thick, to be precise. The phone sports a 3.2 inch brilliant touch screen, with anti-fingerprint screen coating, which is a relief from the older glossy versions of the HTC-Touch phones, leaving smudge marks all over the screen.
The new user interface, the HTC Sense, is the main attraction beneath all of it’s outer beauty. The UI allows the users to customize their device according to their fancies and needs. The home-screen of the UI would sport great new widgets, allowing users to get a glance of all the required information they need in just one glance. Customized profiles, consolidated views of all contacts, be it
- The Basic Phone Number
- E-Mail Address
- Text or MMS
- Facebook Status Updates
- Photos, Videos, etc..
HTC claims that all of it’s future devices will also incorporate the HTC Sense UI. Other features of this phone includes a 5 MP camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, Global Positioning System [GPS], Gravity Sensor, Digital Compass, MicroSD expansion slot, etc to name a few. The phone also features a dedicated “Search” button, which provides more indepth and contextual search results, looking through all of your contact lists, emails, etc to provide an accurate output.
