iPhone Killer Launch: Palm Pre

The iPhone Killer [Yet another one, *yawn*] that many Palm phone fans have been waiting for has finally been launched. Interested crowds gathered at the major Sprint stores in New York and Chicago, this saturday for the launch of Palm’s Pre phone, which supposedly is meant to be an iPhone Killer. It’s major competitors, the iPhone and the Blackberry are under pressure because of this launch and should be having some sort of a backup plan, like reducing prices or adding a new firmware or hardware upgrades.

The crowds expected for the launch were no match for Apple’s iPhone launch, but was substantial enough to keep the people on their toes. Many people actually claimed that they were quite excited and eager for this release and were glad that Palm finally got a phone this neat. Palm should be hitting the shelves this week and Apple is expected to announce a new iPhone this coming 8th of June. This should heat up the market a bit.

The Pre is retailing at a reasonable $199.99, after a $100 rebate, for those customers, who prefer to sign a two year extended service contract. It’s competiting with the retail price of the smaller size version of the iPhone, which is almost the same price. This release is intending to turn a few heads here and there and keep Apple on their toes. So, the question remains, will Palm succeed? Or Will it fail miserably like the other self-acclaimed ‘iPhone Killers’? Only time will tell..

Palm Pre was quite hyped, agreed.. But i don’t think it’ll match up to the standards set by Apple.. It’s tough to beat iPhone.. None of the prior “iPhone Killers” ever matched up to their name.. :) Lets see what this does..

I happen to find this phone very asthetically unpleasing. Not cute – in other words. ; )

Right on! I didn’t fancy this phone too much either.. It isn’t good looking at all, as a matter of fact, it’s downright ugly.. The Qwerty pad should’ve been a detachable thing or something.. It makes the phone uglier than it is already.. :( I was sooo hoping Palm would bring out something better than this..

No need to wait for time to tell, we all know this phone is going to suck like all the rest.. ALL HAIL APPLE!
