Microsoft Confirms XBox 360 Price Cuts!

27 August 2009 219 views No Comment

Sony’s move to introduce the Playstation 3 Slim at an extremely reasonable price put all of it’s competitors at their edges. A price cut for the Xbox 360 was quite obvious, to stay in the game. Microsoft finally confirmed, that on 28th August, 2009, the Elite and the Pro versions of the Xbox 360 consoles will get a price overhaul.

360Microsoft’s Larry Hryb confirmed the speculations and gave out the following price format:

  • Xbox 360 Elite: New Price = $299.99 (Was $399.99)
  • Xbox 360 Pro: New Price = $249.99 (Was $299.99)
  • Xbox 360 Arcade: New Price = $199.99 (Was 199.99)

Out of the above, Larry explained that the Pro version of the Xbox 360 will be available at the above mentioned price, only till the available stocks last. Apparently, Microsoft is pulling the plug on the Pro version of the console, since it wasn’t quite the tag anyway. Hryb was heard quoting after all the leaked flyers about the price cut “Betcha You Didn’t see that coming, Did You??”.

Well, every good thing HAS to come with a downfall right? Well, Microsoft has removed the HDMI cable from the Elite package and you have to purchase it separately. It’s like buying a car and paying separately for it’s keys. Let’s wait and watch how the furious consumers react to that!
