Mozilla’s Older Firefox line, the 2.0 version has finally surfed it’s last page. The 2.0 version received it’s last and final security update with version 2.0.0.19 which patches some 13 odd bugs and has dropped the everlasting phishing protection. With the release of this patch, the support for this version has finally been shut off.

The 2.0 version, which was quite revolutionary, was released first in 2006, October. Even though the older version of the browser has now been officially retired. Users are welcome to still use it though, but can’t be updated to be protected against the harm on the Internet. Mozilla has requested the users using 2.0 to upgrade themselves to 3.0. Another great era in the life of the Internet has been laid down. 2.0 Served it’s purpose and carried forward the torch to 3.0! Amen.

I was quite shocked when i first read this.. it wasn’t expected that they would stop the support! I mean, many people didn’t quite like the browser’s new features like the search bar and more.. Inclusive of me.. I would’ve really liked if they continued support. They’re behaving like Microsoft, forcing users to move on, even if they don’t want to.. :(
