SlingPlayer updated version to 1.1, Yet Not Allowed in US.
The infamous iPhone app, SlingPlayer, that allows users to control and at the same time, watch video from their television sets or any other media storage device for that matter via their iPhones, has come up with a fancy update. The application now sports widescreen viewing, support for some great DISH satellite television and as well as an updated slick user interface, which will make your iPhone look uber hot.
SlingPlayer Mobile was launched in the Apple App store, this May, and due to it’s incapability to stream video via any existing media streams such as 3G or the older EDGE data connections, the need for Wi-Fi to run the same app caused a bit of congestion and also might obstruct access to other users in the same network, the AT&T network had banned the application from use on it’s network. Even though an update for the same application has arrived, the Wi-Fi limitation is still carried forward.
Though the application is superb for media freaks, it’s still not permitted for use in the US. Hopefully, the manufacturers should realize this soon and come up with a 3G or an EDGE alternative for this, giving more users access to the great features it sports. The App is available at the Apple App store for a reasonable $29.99. Get it if you’re outside the US.
